Before you Install
- Map a network drive to the CAE media server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered.
- Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.
[edit] Install SolidWorks 2008
Step 1. Start the Solidworks installer. If it does not autostart, run sldim\sldim.exe
Step 2. Enter the SolidWorks Serial Number: <Protected text, login to view>. You do not need to fill in the last 2 boxes! The installer will automatically populate the remaining boxes after the warning prompt in the next step.
Step 3. Choose the Installation Options. From the upper choice select either Continue ... or Download and install the new version .... From the lower choice: Please Select Individual installation.
Step 4. If you would like modify the components that will be installed from the SolidWorks Office Premium" software suite. If desired use the Change button to modify the Installation Folder. NOTE: COSMOSWorks is automatically included in the default installation.
Step 5. When prompted choice location of Standard Library Files.
Step 6. Choose Install Now
Step 7. When prompted Add License Server Information. License port and server is 16560@license-2.cae.wisc.edu Once added, then click OK
Step 8. Installation Complete! NOTE: COSMOS products are automatically installed.

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.
