Before you Install
- Map to the network drive.
- Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.
[edit] Install SolidWorks
Step 1. Start the Solidworks installer. Select Install Solidworks
- The installer can either be run directly or downloaded from our campus server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered
Step 2. Choose the Installation Option. Select SolidWorks Office
Step 3. Specify the Installation Folders.
Step 4. Enter the SolidWorks Serial Number: <Protected text, login to view>.
Step 5. Specify if you wish to have the Windows Desktop Search engine installed on your computer.
Step 6. Specify if you wish to participate in the Feedback program
Step 7. Enter License Server Information. License port and server is 16560@license-2.cae.wisc.edu.
Step 8. Commence installation
Step 9. Go to http://software.cae.wisc.edu/license/Setup_config_files/ and download swSettings.sldreg
Step 10. By running swSettings.sldreg, Solidworks will have the same default preferences as the Lab Workstations.
[edit] To Install just COSMOS
Step 1. Start the COSMOS Installer. Select Install COSMOS
Step 2. Read the license agreement.
Step 3. Specify what resources you wish to install.
Step 4. Specify the Cosmosworks licensing information
- Proceed using the COSMOS licence file option
- Select the third bullet down "Set Port and Host Name of License Server"
- (Port: 16561 Host: license-2.cae.wisc.edu)
Step 5. Specify the Installation Folders.

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.
