[edit] Tethered Installation Steps

Step 1. Before you Install

  • Map a network drive to the CAE media server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered. NOTE: You must install WiscVPN to connect to CAE media server from off of the campus network.
  • Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.

Step 2. Start the installer

  • The installer can either be downloaded from our campus server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered

Step 3. Select the components to install it is usually best to leave these values at their defaults

Step 4. Specify the license server the server is: license-1.cae.wisc.edu through port# 7788

Step 5. Specify Windows preferences

Step 6. Select optional configuration steps

Step 7. If installing ProE 4.0, during installation, you will have to select the different discs during the course of the installation. Simply click Browse and select the corresponding folder when prompted for the next disc.

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.
