Maple 10 Tethered Installation

NOTE: CAE is working to get Maple 11 implemented. For now please install Maple 10. Be sure to also install the 10.04 Windows upgrade!

Step 1. Before you Install:
- Map to the network drive.
- Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.
Step 2. Run the Maple 10 Installer.
- The installer (Maple10WindowsInstaller) can either be run directly from our campus media server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered
- Introduction Select Next.
- Choose Install Folder Specify any directory, the default C:\Program Files\Maple 10 is fine.
- Client or Server Settings Specify No. Your computer will not be acting as your license server. You do not need the licensing utilities.
- License Manager Server Leave the default value. In Step 3 you will overwrite this information.
- Profile Settings Select Single-user Profile
- Install Desktop Shortcuts Select either.
- Maple Worksheet Association Select either. the default is recommended.
- Watcom Compiler' Select No, no is recommended unless you have specific uses for these Maple features.
- Pre-Installation Summary: Check the information and Select Install.
- Install Complete Select No. You are not yet done with the tethered installation. You still need to replace the license.dat file, see the next Step.
Step 3 Download and Replacement the license file: Right Click the license.dat link, select Save Link As, and replace the license file in the \license folder in the directory where Maple 10 is installed. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Maple 10\license. If there is already a file in that folder, replace it with the downloaded copy.

- Mac HD\Library\Framework\Maple.framework\version\10\license\
Note files on kaminio are available to UW-Madison IP addresses only. You may need to use WiscVPN if access from off campus.
Step 4. Install the 10.04 Update! Either run the update installer (Maple1004WindowsUpdate) directly from \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered\Maple 10 or download the Windows Network update from the MapleSoft site. Note that the update currently available from MapleSoft's site is 10.06, which may not work with CAE's license server. Please download from kamino to ensure compatibility.

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.
