[edit] Additional Information

[edit] National Instruments (Labview) License Agreement

The College of Engineering has an Academic Research Annual Software License Agreement with National Instruments (NI). This agreement permits an unlimited number of computers used solely for academic research, teaching, and educational purposes within the college to install and use NI software. Please note that this license is not for installation on any student-owned computers. A separate LabVIEW Student Edition is available in the University bookstore for such purposes.

NI permits the right to distribute Virtual Instruments (VI's) and related documentation created with the NI software; provided such distribution is for academic purposes. Except for the foregoing limited distribution right, in no case may you distribute software deliverables created with the NI software without the prior written approval of NI.

The NI software shall not be used for any commercial purpose. If you desire to license the NI software for commercial purposes or other purpose not permitted under the scope of this agreement, you must enter into a separate license agreement with National Instruments and pay all applicable NI license fees before engaging in such use.

Installation and use of LabVIEW requires a serial number, which is provided in the tethered installation instructions. Your installation of LabVIEW does not expire/quit, but instead depends on the CAE tethered license service. The College license maintenance is renewed annually. Updated media is received every May and November. You must be connected to the university network to run LabVIEW. The license held by CAE does not permit a stand along installation. If this is needed please see the local NI rep to purchase your own local copy of the software.
