[edit] Tethered Installation Steps

Step 1. Before you Install:

• Map to the network drive or check out the media from the Wendt Library, circulation desk.
• Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.

Step 2. Start the Installer

• The installer can either be downloaded from the CAE media server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered or checked out from Wendt library

Step 3. Accept the License Agreement

Step 4. Choose the Installation Directory

Step 5. Place the Fluent <Protected text, login to view> in the proper directory (default is C:\FLUENT.INC\License\). Move the license file to the Fluent "\License" directory

Step 6. Install Gambit (Optional). Gambit required an Exceed 11 Tethered Installation (Current activation codes are included there.)

Step 7. Set the Environmental Variables.

• Run the set environment utility from Start>All Programs>Fluent Inc Products>Fluent 6.2.16 menu
• Click Yes in the dialog box that appears.

A common error is Error #5, to correct, create the environmental variable LM_LICENSE_FILE with the value 1714@fireball.cae.wisc.edu
