The Simple install requires that you connect to the CAE media server. To connect you must either be on campus or connected with WiscVPN. (For connecting details see the main Tethered Software page.) Once connected to the media server go to the Autodesk 2007 folder and run ArchDesktop 2007 Installer - no options (a shortcut)

[edit] Standard Installation

WARNING: DO NOT run the default installer.

Step 1. Before you Install:

  • Map to the network drive.
  • Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.

Step 2. Start the Installer. Select Install

  • The installer can either be downloaded from the CAE media server \\kamino.cae.wisc.edu\tethered. Run ArchDesktop 2007 Installer - with options in the Autodesk 2007 folder)

Step 3. Enter User Information

Step 4. Select Installation Type. Most users should select Typical

Step 5. Specify Installation Folder.

Step 6. Specify text editor

Step 7. Configuring the License.

Step 8. Post Installation Specify Licensing Information in step 7 fails

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.

[edit] Additional Information

License configuration problems? Edit the LICPATH.LIC file found in the installation folders (generally under Program Files). This file is generally missing configuration elements. There is a correct version of this file on the media server (\\kamino\tethered) in the Autodesk 2007 folder.

Alternate method to fix licensing problems: Create an Environmental Variable named: adskflex_license_file with the value of: 27101@license-1.cae.wisc.edu

Does Arc Desktop never asks for the licensing information? You have installed product incorrectly. Please see a CAE consultant to ensure you are running the correct installation script.

Windows Vista: If problems occur, try running the software as an administrator. After the software is installed, right click on the desktop icon and select 'run as administrator.'
