Tethered Installations

Step 1. Before you Install:

  • Map to the network drive.
  • Authorize your computer to use tethered software. Use your CAE username and password to gain access to CAE tethered licensing. Each authorization has a duration of 12 hours.

Step 2. Start the Installer. Select Install.

  • The installer can either be downloaded from our campus server //kamino.cae.wisc.edu/tethered

Step 3. Specify the Installation Directory.

Step 4. Select Components.

Step 5. Setup Licensing. Make sure the Run the licensing setup to complete this installation box is selected.

Step 6. Specify Port. Set the port to 1055.

Step 7. Select 1 License Server. select the "License server running the ANSYS FLEXlm License Manager" option.

Step 8. Specify License Servers. License servers is fireball.cae.wisc.edu

Note: In order for tethered software to function properly your workstation must be continuously connected to the network and the CAE license servers.
