[edit] Ansys 10.0

ANSYS, Inc. ANSYS is a general purpose finite element modeling and analsys tool. As such many different types of problems may be analyzed, some examples include: structural, thermal, magnetic field, electric field, and coupled field analyses. ANSYS includes a Pre-processor (model definition), Processor (solver), and Post-processor (output). All of these components may be accessed either through a graphical user interface (GUI) or through command line interface.

High Option (Unix version) 16,000 node and 12,000 element limit

Low Option(NT version) 8,000 node and 6,000 element limit

Structural analysis: static, modal, harmonic, transient dynamic, spectrum, and buckling analysis

Thermal analysis: steady-state and transient thermal analysis

Magnetic field Analysis: static, harmonic, and transient magnetic analysis

Electric Field Analysis

Coupled-field Analysis: via indirect and direct methods

Ansys 11.0 is available as tethered software. See the Ansys Tethered Installation for more information.

Note: Ansys is not compatible with the Xfce Environment on the Suns.
To use Ansys, we recommend logging into the CDE environment first.

If the GUI does not start, please adjust the CDE Settings in
Desktop Style -> Font -> Size to Font Size Medium (Not Small(3))

Check-out the current status of the license server for Ansys.

Both Unix and NT licenses are acquired from a common (Elan) license server. If there are licensing problems please see a CAE consultant to check and restart the license server.
